Fees and money

Collecting fees and issuing receipts

Fee structures, collecting a payment, receipts, refunds and corrections.

Set up fee structures

In Fees → Fee structures, define what a course costs and how it is split into instalments. Assign to a student to create their dues.

Collect a payment

Open the student's dues and choose Collect. Enter the amount received, the payment date and the mode: cash, UPI, card, cheque or bank transfer. For a cheque, UPI or bank payment the reference is required. Record and issue receipt creates a numbered receipt; numbers never skip or repeat.

A part payment leaves the rest owed on the instalment; when everything is paid, a paid-in-full receipt is issued.

Refunds and corrections

A receipt is never edited. To fix a mistake, Correct a payment, which records a reversal and a new entry; to return money, Refund money. Every change is in the Audit trail.

GST

When your institute is registered for GST with a valid GSTIN in its branding, receipts and invoices carry the tax details; otherwise they do not mention tax.
